What is important for you in a computer wargame ? An articificial opponent (AI) to play alone against the computer ? A Play By EMail option (PBEM) to play asynchronously against other human people ? A Net option to play online against other human people ? Here at KWD we think that PBEM is a requisite, Net option is a real plus, and AI is fine but difficult to develop and always a poor opponent that people tend to forget after a while...

What are your favorite board games ? (ie: ASL, Hannibal, etc.)

What is your favorite period ? Ancient ? Napoleonic ? WW2 ? ...

What is your prefered scale ? Strategic ? Operational ? Tactical ? ...

What is your prefered topic ? Land ? Naval ? Air ? Fantasy ? ...

Do you think a computer wargame shall propose much more options and details than a traditional board wargame ? (detailed rules on morale, fatigue, supply, lots of steps for each unit, very large and detailed maps, etc.). Generally, a computer wargame propose at least one more step of details over their board counterpart; for example where a traditional wargame tends to propose WW2 on the eastern front at the level of corps and armies, a computer wargame will rather propose a division level game, with lots of details on supply, unit organization, some even telling you that division <X> has 3756 men left with 32 T34 and 7 BT7 !!! Here at KWD we consider these overwhelming details are for historians only, players being disturbed from their initial main objectives; playability and strategy... Games like "The Russian Campaign" have been so successful in the past, why should the computer version demonstrate a map 6 times larger and the 100 units armies become 2000 units armies ?

Please rate the following games proposals :

  • The full Russo-German War at the Corps/Army scale
  • The full War in the Pacific at the Corps/Army scale
  • The War in the Desert at the Regiment/Division scale
  • An ASL like game, that will fill and play like ASL !
  • A Roman Empire strategic game (played by periods / scenarios)
  • The full World War I at a grand strategic level
  • The full napoleonic wars at a grand strategic level
  • A game of naval warfare with 2 levels, operational and tactical
  • A wargaming system for playing your favorite board game with PBEM and Net options (like Aide de Camp but much better !)
